Scottish Fighting Arts Society Instructors & Assistants

  1. Sensei Alan Mitchell

    Sensei Alan Mitchell is Founder of the Scottish Fighting Arts Society and Head Instructor for both Kingsmills Kempo School & Smithton Kempo School .  He is also Lead Practitioner at Kingsmills Kensei Kai Dojo. He is a General Member of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai and is the Scottish National representative for the World Martial Arts Council.  He  is currently graded  4th Dan - Kempo ~  3rd Dan Kempo Ju-Jitsu ~ 3rd Dan - Close Quarter Combat Systems ~ 3rd Dan (Master) Self Defence ~ Level 1 Instructor - Combat Wing Chun 1st Dan Iaido with the Kensei Kai and a Menkyo Kaiden for Asayama Ichiden Ryu  for  its Tuition within the Kensei Kai 1st Dan - Takahashi Kin Kyo-Ri- Kaku-To Shiki ~ 2nd Kyu Kobudo with Go Ri Ho Chi Shin Kensei Kai Dojo. Sensei Alan Mitchell is also a professionally qualified Tutor holding a Level 3 Award in Education and Training and also Delivers First Aid and Conflict Management skills within the Society

  2. Shihan Robert Ramage

    Shihan Robert Ramage is currently Graded at 7th Dan Black Belt in the Art of Kempo Ju-Jitsu and is also the Head Instructor at Member Group Central Kempo Ju-Jitsu based in Falkirk.

  3. Master David Sneddon

    Master David Sneddon is a 5th Dan Master in the Art of Hapkido.  He is also the founder of Hapkido Scotland and has links to the International Hapkido Alliance based in Australia.

  4. Master Karl T Grubis

    Master Karl T Grubis is Head Instructor and Founder of Linked Group - Goshin-Jitsu Scotland.  He is currently graded 5th Dan in Ju Jitsu ~ 4th Dan Close Quarter Combat Systems ~ 4th Dan (Master) Self Defence and is also a Certified Kobo-Jitsu Weapons Instructor.

  5. Sensei Kevin Shorthouse

    Sensei Kevin Shorthouse is currently ranked 5th Dan Hapkido Close Quarter Combat, 4th Dan Close Quarter Combat Systems, and 2nd Dan Ju-Jitsu. He has also Completion of all 6 Phases of the Kea/Black Dragon Hand 2 Hand Fighting Method and has also trained in the art of Tai Chi and Chi Gong. He is Head Instructor at Black Dragon Scotland and also an Instructor with the Black Dragon Martial Arts Academy (Stockport).

  6. Sabeomnim Bobbie Bass

    Sabeomnim Bobbie Bass is Founder and Head Instructor at the Bass Korean Martial Arts School.  He is currently ranked at 4th Dan in the Martial Art of Tang Soo Do.

  7. Sensei Ray Haughey

    Sensei Ray Haughey is Head Instructor at Northern Martial Arts Studios and Haughey Fitness & Self Denence Club. He is currently graded 4th Dan - Kempo - Ju Jitsu ~ 1st Dan - Close Quarter Combat Systems.

  8. Sabeomnim Matt Tollan

    Sabeomnim Matt Tollan is a 3rd Dan in Hapkido and in an Instructor at Hapkido Scotland.  He is also a fitness coach at the Total Combat Militay FItness Gym where the Hapkido Scotland Dojang is based.

  9. Sensei Ali Cameron

    Sensei Ali Cameron is the Head Instructor at the Cameron School of Martial Arts.  He is Currently Graded to 3rd Dan in Kempo Ju-Jitsu and also holds 1st Dan in Tang Soo Do.

  10. Sensei Carol-Anne Kenmuir

    Sensei Carol-Anne Kenmuir is an Instructor at the Cameron School of Martial Arts.  She is Currently Graded to 3rd Dan in Kempo Ju-Jitsu and also holds 1st Dan in Tang Soo Do.

  11. Sensei Katy-Louise Taylor

    Sensei Katy-Louise Taylor is an Instructor at Kingsmills Kempo School & Smithton Kempo School.  She is currently graded 3rd Dan Kempo,  1st Dan Close Quarter Combat Systems , 1st Dan Takahashi Kin Kyo-Ri Kaku-to Shiki, 5th Kyu Iaido and 8th Kyu in Judo.  Sensei Katy-Louise Taylor  is the also the designated Scottish Fighting Arts Society Events Fire Safety Officer.

  12. Sensei Mark Petrie

    Sensei Mark Petrie is the Head Instructor and Founder of Granite City Ju-Jitsu Club and is also the Dojo Leader at Granite City Kensei Kai.  He is currently graded 2nd Dan - Ju Jitsu and 3rd Kyu in Iaido.  He works closely with Master Karl T Grubis of Goshin-Jitsu Scotland and Sensei Alan Mitchell of Kensei Kai Scotland.  Mark is also a Fully Qualified Instructor with the British Self Defence Governing Body.

  13. Guru Utama Jerome Blanes

    Guru Utama Jerome Blanes is currently ranked at Black Belt - Red Stripe in Silat Ikhtiar Malaysia.  He is the Head Instructor Outside Malaysia and is currently teaching in Glasgow.

  14. Sensei Steven Cargill

    Sensei Steven Cargill is an Instructor at Kingsmills Kempo School & Smithton Kempo School. He is a General Member of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kacurrently graded 2nd Dan - Kempo, 1st Dan - Kempo Ju Jitsu, 1st Dan - Takahashi Kin Kyo-Ri Kaku-To Ho Shiki, Brown Sash - Kung Fu , 1st Kyu in Iaido, 4th Kyu - Shotokan Karate,  and 6th Kyu in Kobudo.

  15. Sensei Lesley-Ann Grubis

    Sensei Lesley-Ann Grubis is an the Lead Instructor at PT-13 Monsters Ju-Jitsu and also an Assistant Instructor with Goshin-Jitsu Scotland. Leslie-Ann is also a Fully Qualified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer.  She hold a Level 1 Instructors Qualification from Martial Arts Instructor UK and she is currently graded to Shodan  in Ju-Jitsu.

  16. Sempai Mark Duffy

    Sempai Mark Duffy is an Assistant Instructor with Cameron's School of Martial Arts. He is currently Graded 1st Dan in Kempo Ju-Jitsu and 1st Dan in Tang Soo Do.

  17. Sabeomnim Gary Buchan

    Sabeomnim Gary Buchan is Founder and Head Instructor at Moray Coast Tang Soo Do. He is currently ranked at 2nd Dan in the Martial Art of Tang Soo Do.

In Memory of Okimitsu Fujii Sensei

  1. Okimitsu Fujii Sensei

    Okimitsu Fujii Sensei  (Hanshi DNBK)  1939 - 2017 Okimitsu Fujii Sensei taught kendo since 1967 both in the UK and rest of the world. He was one of the most respected teachers in the UK. He was a founder member of the British Kendo Association, European Kendo Federation, and International Kendo Federation. Due to his untiring effort and dedication he has been made a lifetime member of the British Kendo Association and is known as the grandfather of British Kendo. Having left the British Kendo association he then started the Kensei Kai.  He was a Master Instructors for Member Group Kingsmills Kensei Kai and is also an Assessed and Graded our Technical Advisor and Founder.  We are proud to have links to Okimitsu Fujii Sensei and to have had him support us as our Patron. We are ever grateful for his teachings in and out of the Dojo and for his inspirational, enthusiastic and compassionate teachin methods, along with his also slightly unorthodox methods. We will miss his lessons and his friendship dearly.

  1. Sensei Brian Ford

    Sensei Brian Ford is a Scottish Fighting Arts Technical Advisor and Senior Yudansha Grading Panel Member.  He is 7th Dan in Kobudo and holds various other Dan Grades and has trained in a number of different arts.  He is one of the Master Instructors for Kingsmills Kensei Kai Dojo.  Sensei Ford has close links to Japan and many of his Instructors have been senior instructors in their respective arts.  He is the Head Instructor at Go-Ri-Ho-Chi Shin Kensei Kai Dojo and also is a highly repected member of the Kensei Kai.
